Genesis Re-Introduce Road Bikes Into Their 2010 Lineup
Genesis have finally released details regarding their upcoming 2010 lineup. You don’t actually have to wait for these bikes as long as intially thought because although they are in the 2010 lineup, they are being released this September.
Genesis have decided to return to the road bike market this year with their 2010 lineup. The first bikes up on the list are the Aether 10 and Aether 20 racing bikes.
The Aether design is really best suitted for daily commuting or training. Both feature ALX-9 aluminium frames as well as carbon-legged forks. However, this comes at a price. The cheapest of the two models, the Aether 10, costs £599.99 and features quality parts from Shimano and Sora. If you want to go for the more expensive Aether 20, you need to add on an extra £200. For your £799.99, you will get a mix of Sora and Shimano Tiagra parts.
The next bike is the Vapour. This bike will cost you around £850, which is justified as it features an ALX-9 6069 aluminium frame. To go alongside your lightweight frame, you also get a mix of Shimano Tiagra and Sora parts, plus a new front hanger mount, designed by Genesis to supply better braking.
The third bike up is the Flyer. This bike is singlespeed and features a nice range of modern, stylish features. The main frame is built from Reynolds 520 steel and to match the stylish frame are chrome cable clips and a white chain. This good looking bike is alot less than it looks, at only £599.99. However, this bike is missing bottle bosses, allowing you to attach bike accessories, I guess Genesis must have assumed that if you own one of these, you don’t sweat through your cycle clothing.
Together with the lineup of road bikes announced by Genesis, also came a few mountain bikes. The Core is the first mountain bike in the lineup and it comes in two different flavours. The Core is available as the Core 40 for £999.99 or the Core 50 for £1,199.99.
The next one up is the Alpitude costing £1,699.99, not to be mistaken with the Altitude, features a Reynolds 853 steel frame, perfect for long trails.
If you’re looking for a relatively cheap mountain bike, the new iO is the best suitted. This bike comes in two models, the eight-speed and the singlespeed, costing £1,099.99 and £599.99. A Reynolds 520 steel frame comes as standard with both of these models.
Despite having 5 different models, the Altitude is the final bike in the 2010 lineup. Built with a Reynolds 520 frame, the Altitude 00 and the Altitude 10 are the cheapest costing £799.99 for the 00 and £999.99 for the 10. The next level up in the model range is the Altitude 20. It features a Reynolds 853 steel frame and will cost £1,449.99. If we overlook the 4th model and jump straight to the impressive Altitude Ti, also the most expensive model. The Ti comes with a titanium frame and a price tag to match, £2,799.99.
